How Can GIS Serve My Public Safety Emergency Communications Center? - AICP/CM Approved 1.5

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

For most GIS professionals, public safety/emergency response can seem like a black box of voodoo magic. GIS can play a vital part role in supporting public safety if the spatial needs of public safety are known. From providing data to the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, to preparing location data for Next Generation 9-1-1, to supporting situational awareness in the field with map-based applications, the correct emergency response often relies on knowing where to respond. This session will provide GIS professionals with the public safety perspective so the veil of mystery can be lifted on the public safety/emergency response black box, and GIS can better serve public safety and emergency management professionals.
