GIS professionals have specific expertise that can inform important public policy, and we are also impacted by public policies propounded by others.  This session will begin with a brief summary of how URISA's Policy Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors have responded and are monitoring a variety of  issues including the Federal Geospatial Data; working with URISA chapters to monitor the states' legal definitions of professional practice for Land Surveying and GIS; and encouraging adequate funding of the American Community Survey and Census 2020 in addition to expressing opposition to the inclusion of the citizenship question.

Speaking of Census:

Closing Keynote
Greg Hanks, Deputy Chief of Geography Division, Census
We're excited to welcome Greg Hanks to discuss the upcoming 2020 Census, how Geography is preparing for it,  LUCA, addressing, and how the local GIS community can prepare and support the census process.
